Zero Emission Valley (ZEV) is the largest hydrogen mobility project in France and one of the most ambitious in Europe. The project aims at making Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes the first hydrogen territory in Europe by accelerating the deployment of fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen stations throughout the region while helping to create a profitable model that can be replicated on a European scale. The Regional council launched in 2017 the Zero Emission Valley project to promote the deployment of hydrogen and develop tomorrow’s zero-emission mobility. 80% of the hydrogen stakeholders (local authorities, companies, competitiveness clusters, research centers, etc.) in France are located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. The simultaneous deployment of hydrogen production (1 electrolyzer), storage and distribution infrastructures (20 hydrogen filling stations) and hydrogen vehicles (1200 light-duty vehicles) will make it possible to offer an operational system, inspiring a new profitable and sustainable market. The synchronized deployment of vehicles and refueling infrastructure will be carried out by Hympulsion, a company having for shareholders local authorities and industry and financial institutions. This project as a whole will involve nearly €52 million over 10 years.
