AMETHyST aims to support the deployment of local Alpine green hydrogen ecosystems to pave the way for a post-carbon lifestyle in the Alps. The project partners have reinforced the role of public authorities by increasing their capacity, designing support services to roll out green hydrogen solutions and including green hydrogen in local and regional energy strategies and plans.
Project outputs are:
– Piloting hydrogen territorial ecosystems
– Development of guidelines for local Alpine green hydrogen ecosystems
– Financial evaluation toolkit for Alpine green hydrogen ecosystems
– Policy guidelines to implement local Alpine green hydrogen ecosystems
AMETHyST increases the capacity of public authorities, designs support services to deploy green hydrogen solutions, mainly in touristic areas as flagship project for energy transition, and includes green hydrogen in local and regional energy strategies and plans. An Alpine green hydrogen package is developed to help public authorities support concrete hydrogen projects. Based on the results of the pilot projects, a “Local Alpine green hydrogen ecosystem model” identifies and provides the constituent elements of hydrogen’s territorial approach, combining production, storage, distribution and uses. Policy recommendations to support green hydrogen development are elaborated and shared with EUSALP and regional policymakers to reinforce the role of public authorities. Since Alpine public authorities face similar challenges when supporting green hydrogen solutions, transnational project activities allow them to use and build on a proven hydrogen development model.
